Burovaya labour camp

A dilapidated camp on the Turukhan River. Alongside the construction of the railway line it was used in work on nearby drilling towers.

Of the camp’s buildings only a few ruins, overgrown in woodland, have been preserved. Unfortunately we were unable to undertake thorough research due to time restrictions. We did, however, document two abandoned drilling towers in proximity to the camp. It is likely that attempts were made to extract oil when the railway was being built; the first part of the name stems from the Russian for the verb “to drill”.
